Yesterday, I went to Plymouth and saw the black-crowned night herons. Such elegant plumes on such squat birds. There was a double-crested cormorant about 20 feet in front of us, close enough to get a good view of the crest. Today I watched a pair of chickadees gather dog hair off the porch for their nest, and a Carolina wren gathering roots and fibers. The titmice are noisy from dawn to dusk, but it's a nice noise.
